On November 14, 2024, as the METU Optics and Photonics Society, we successfully hosted the Fundamentals of Oscilloscope, Usage, and Application Areas training in collaboration with Spark Ölçüm Teknolojileri A.Ş.
The training was led by Emine Selin Kocaoğlu Zeyrek, who provided attendees with hands-on expertise and an in-depth exploration of:
✔ What an oscilloscope is and how it works
✔ Its applications in various industries and technologies
✔ Signal capture, analysis techniques, and demonstration
Our esteemed professor, Prof. Dr. Hakan Altan, delivered an insightful presentation on Terahertz Plasmonics, introducing the field of plasmonics, where charge oscillations in conducting media interact with THz photons through the manipulation of fields in spatially confined regions. The seminar also featured examples demonstrating their potential in various application scenarios.
Abstract :
With advancements in communications and sensing, the need for powerful THz sources and methods to focus THz radiation at extremely small scales has grown. Plasmonics plays a key role in achieving this by enabling interactions between charge oscillations and THz photons. This talk explored the fundamentals of THz plasmonics and its potential applications in cutting-edge technologies.
