On October 30, 2024, as the METU Optics and Photonics Society, we successfully completed an inspiring technical visit to Poloptech!
Poloptech is a leading domestic company specializing in precision optics, producing high-quality optical components using state-of-the-art CNC technologies. During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore their advanced manufacturing processes and gain valuable insights into cutting-edge optical applications.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Özgür Selimoğlu for his insightful presentation and for making this visit both educational and inspiring.
A big thank you to all participants for joining us! We look forward to welcoming you on our future field trips. 🚀🔬
On December 7th, 2022, as the METU Optics and Photonics Society, we had the unique opportunity to visit the Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory (TARLA). The trip, organized with the support of the METU OPTICA-SPIE Student Chapter, offered our members an exciting, informative experience that deepened our understanding of cutting-edge accelerator and radiation technologies.
We were greeted by the team and gathered in the Engin Arık Hall. A group of TARLA engineers gave an informative presentation about the lab's history, mission, and ongoing research projects.
The tour continued with a visit to the laboratory facilities, where the actual experiments take place. Before entering, we received a safety briefing from the occupational safety expert. Inside, we explored a variety of topics, including the production of Bremsstrahlung radiation and the workings of helium cryostat cooling tanks.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to the TARLA team for their warm hospitality and insightful presentations, as well as to all the participants for making this event a success. We look forward to more exciting and educational field trips in the future!
On November 30, 2022, we had the honor of visiting ODTÜ-GÜNAM, where Rasit Turan and the team graciously hosted us, offering a fascinating insight into their groundbreaking work.
This insightful visit provided our undergraduate students from various departments with an invaluable opportunity to explore the world of solar panels and cells. The students not only learned about the technical details of these energy solutions but also gained a deeper understanding of the potential career paths in both the academic and industrial sectors.
We would like to thank Altuğ Uçar and the team at REKROM OPTOELECTRONICS for hosting us on November 9, 2022, and providing valuable insights into their work.
This field trip, attracting students interested in Turkey's Military Defense Industry, showcased REKROM's progress in LIDAR manufacturing. As a start-up supported by TÜBİTAK, REKROM has been competing with industry leaders and making significant advancements in optoelectronic applications.
We visited various labs, including electronics, optomechanics, optics, and computational, and learned about REKROM’s projects and future goals. Their presentations also introduced us to candidate engineering and internship programs, offering future opportunities for students.
