As the official OPTICA-SPIE student chapter of METU, we traditionally celebrate the International Day of Light each year together with our professors. In this event, we bring together students with Turkey's most reputable companies to observe industrial applications in the fields of optics and photonics. The main theme of our event is to closely introduce the optics industry in Turkey, especially the defense industry, and to inform students interested in optics and photonics about current work in the aforementioned sectors.

WORKSHOPS
Every year, we invite undergraduate students to our workshop presentations. These workshops are prepared by graduate students for those interested in experimental skills in optics and photonics. The presentations are aimed at students who want to learn more about physics, the essential foundational experimental skills, and what it means to become a research member of a laboratory. In this way, the bond between undergraduate students and teaching and research staff is strengthened.
Research Laboratory Visits
For students who wish to advance academically in the fields of optics and photonics, we organize visits to laboratories that are actively involved in research conducted in Turkey. During these visits, seminars, presentations, and panel-style events related to the work carriead out in the laboratories are held.

We organize seminars and visits to company premises to enable students to shape their career paths more deliberately by getting to know the industry up close.
